Raise a Glass to Dad: Maple Old Fashioned Cocktail Recipe for Father’s Day
Father’s Day is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than with a cocktail that’s as smooth and classic as Dad himself? Whether you’re toasting to his wisdom, his humour, or just his love for a good drink, our Maple Old Fashioned is the perfect choice. This twist on the timeless Old Fashioned adds a touch of sweetness with maple syrup, giving it a rich, caramel-like flavour that perfectly complements the bourbon. It’s a drink that’s sure to impress and a great way to make Dad’s day a little more special.
Ingredients:
- 2 ounces bourbon (such as Buffalo Trace)
- 3–4 dashes of Angostura aromatic bitters or orange bitters
- 1/2 teaspoon maple syrup
- 1 orange peel
- Ice
Method:
- Use a vegetable peeler or knife to carefully cut a 2-to 3-inch-long piece of orange peel. Rub the inside of the peel around the rim of your cocktail glass to release the citrus oils, then set the peel aside.
- Add the bourbon, bitters, and maple syrup to the prepared glass. Stir briefly with a cocktail spoon to combine the ingredients.
- Drop in a few ice cubes and stir the drink to mix and chill.
- Give the orange peel a good twist over the glass to release more oils, then tuck it into the drink.
- Hand the drink to Dad and watch him enjoy every sip!
Make sure to enjoy this cocktail responsibly, and here’s to creating great memories this Father’s Day.
