Burnt Basque Cheesecake Recipe

It was a standout in our recent Saturday Dessert Boxes so we thought we'd share this one with you all to re-create at home.

Light yet rich and with a lemony twist, we hope you love baking this easy cheesecake at home using this recipe straight from our restaurant on the South Coast.

Burnt Basque Cheesecake Recipe


675g Cream Cheese

200g Caster Sugar

5 Eggs

350g Cream

20g Self Raising Flour

2 Tsp Vanilla Extract

15 ml Lemon Juice


Preheat your oven to 220 Degrees & line a circle tin with grease-proof paper

Whip the cream cheese and sugar in a large bowl until smooth

Slowly add the eggs & cream

Sift the flour into the mixture

Fold in vanilla extract & lemon juice

If you’d like to make your cake extra fluffy and are feeling patient, pass the mixture through a seize while pouring into the pan.

Otherwise, omit the above step and just pour the mixture into the pan.

Bake in the oven for 35-40 minutes (keeping in mind the crust is meant to burn!)

Allow to cool and remove the cake from the tin.
