Hot Cross Brown Ale

We have a special seasonal release on tap now at Cupitt's Estate. The Hot Cross Bun Brown Ale was brewed by a brewery team in collaboration with talented chefs in the kitchen. The inspiration for this brown ale comes from the warm and spicy flavours of a classic hot cross bun, a special treat our brewers enjoyed with morning tea as Easter approached. 

The brewery team worked closely with the chefs to carefully select spices added to the brewing process to infuse the beer with aromatic notes, creating a rich, complex and flavourful profile that perfectly balances the maltiness of the brown ale.

One of the secrets to the unique flavour of this brown ale is the addition of dried fruit that has been cooked sous-vide in spiced rum. Sous-vide is a cooking technique where food is vacuum-sealed in a bag and simmered in a water bath at a precise temperature. Combining the sous-vide cooked dried fruit and the spices creates an aromatic sweetness that adds depth and complexity to the brown ale. The result is a beer reminiscent of the flavours of a classic hot cross bun, with a perfect balance of maltiness, spices, and dried fruit. This ale is a testament to the creativity and skill of the wider team. Cheers!Â
