Cupitt's Estate Shines at the Australian Wine Companion 2025

We are thrilled to announce that Cupitt's Estate has retained the 5-Star Rating in the 2025 Australian Wine Companion. The book is published in August each year. Wineries with a 5-star rating are considered outstanding wineries capable of producing wines of very high quality, and they did so this year. This includes having two wines rated at 95 points or above.

Cupitt’s Estate 2022 Tempranillo and 2022 Fiano have both received 95 points in the Guide.

Gold Medal - 95 Points: 2022 Tempranillo. Shanteh Wale, Wine Companion Tasting Judge, praised the wine, “It's all classic tempranillo personality with an Australian accent. Black graphite, prune plums and bilberries. Crushed volcanic rock, clove studs and black pepper. Beetroot earthiness with a juicy and plush mid-palate and finely silty tannins. An excellent example of tempranillo grown in the Hilltops. Black olive brine and salted licorice on the finish. This is a great showcase of the true understanding of the variety, and it is joyous.

Gold Medal - 95 Points: 2022 Fiano-White peach cheeks, yellow plum and tuberose petals. Pineapple core and lemon curd. Less reduction this vintage, with a purity to the citrus and orchard fruit. There is plenty of flesh and a long line of acidity. Warm sand, white button mushroom and nougat. There is a sense that this wine has found its natural place in the world. A real crowd-pleaser.

Both 95-point wines were crafted using grapes from our growers at Moppity Vineyards in the cool-climate Hilltops region. This signifies the quality of the fruit coming from this region, particularly the thriving alternate varieties, and showcases the skill of the winemaker.

Cupitt’s head winemaker, Wally Cupitt, expressed his excitement about the awards: "Receiving these accolades is a testament to our team's hard work and passion. Our goal has always been to showcase the best of what the Hilltops region can offer. We are incredibly proud of these wines and their recognition."

Wally further described his relationship with growers in Southern NSW: "We are incredibly fortunate to have access to high-quality grapes from Southern NSW, particularly the exceptional alternate and emerging varieties that we’re lucky enough to get our hands on. We take pride in representing both the Shoalhaven and Southern NSW regions, showcasing the unique characteristics and quality of the fruit sourced from these areas.
