2023 Wine Vintage Update

The 2023 Vintage is quickly approaching. The 2022 vintage has now been bottled. We bottled the last of our red wines and barrel-fermented whites, Chardonnay and Fiano this week. The 2022 vintage has been different to what we have seen in previous years, with the wines having a quality similar to what you expect with European wines- we can't wait for you to try them.

Winemaker Wally Cupitt said the 2023 vintage grape growing season has been challenging with a very wet Spring. Many of our growers turn to helicopters to spray their crops to mitigate disease. Unable to access from the ground due to the soggy damp ground. For a few, it was the wettest Spring in memory, requiring lots of work in the vineyard to mitigate disease. However, it's been a significant learning process, and our growers have a positive outlook of some good drier conditions for the final stages of ripening.

We are predicting a late vintage, with natural acidity and mature flavour profiles due to the warm and dry end to the season. Vintage 2023 should be a lovely evolution from last year, a cooler season, and one we are very proud of.

We are excited to release a few new varietals and some older ones that had great years. Wally says 'for me, the picks are the Arnieis, Riesling, Chardonnay, Fiano and Viognier, all showing a beautiful mineral character this year while maintaining intense varietal characters. As for red wine, due to the cooler growing conditions, the flavour and tannin profiles are very refined, intense and elegant. I can’t wait for you to try our Shiraz, Pinot Noir and Cabernet blends.'Â
