Meet Leonie Marsh our IWD Moderator

Meet our Moderator and beloved local in her own right, Leonie Marsh.

1. What inspired you to become a moderator for this panel?

I love our community, and I love celebrating the women of our community. And I also love wine, so to moderate such an evening at Cupitt's Estate seemed the perfect fit.

2. What do you hope the audience takes away from this discussion?

I hope the audience feels uplifted and inspired by our panel discussion. And proud; proud of our panellists and their contributions.

3. Could you describe the panellists and why you chose them for this discussion?

We have invited four popular locals to chat, and I am so excited to hear more about their stories. We have so many incredible people in our dynamic town, and showcasing some of them and their backgrounds is an honour.

 4. What are the biggest challenges facing this topic, ‘embrace equity’?

To understand the difference between equity and equality, I think we will need some diagrams LOL!

5. What are some of the most memorable panel discussions you have moderated, and what made them stand out?

Ooooh gosh! One of the most memorable would have to be the very first Storyfest back in 2019 - I curated and moderated a Film Night with a wonderful panel of female filmmakers in our beautiful Milton Theatre - including the ultra-talented Sophie Hyde and Rebecca Summerton all the way from Adelaide. We watched their feature film Animals - set in Dublin about a female friendship and my dear friend Nicole Coventry's short film, Sherbert Rosencrantz, and You're Beautiful. It was such a fantastic night, and I still have people come up to me and say how much they enjoyed it.
