Why you need Shiraz in your life?

Well, for starters, it's delicious. No, really. This is a seriously versatile grape variety. Shiraz (or syrah, as it's sometimes called) is one of the hero grapes of the Cupitt's Estate winery. We, like many winemakers, love the versatility of this grape variety. As a winemaker, you can play around with whole bunch fermentation, keep it fruity, and cellar in a range of different oak. The result can be an easy drinking red to pair with dinner or something special to store away in the cellar to develop. We believe there is a style of shiraz for everybody.

With the Syrahs, we're going for elegance, spice, earthy elements and soft tannins. The term Syrah is most common in Europe. However, it is often used in Australia when describing cooler climate wines, and we have adopted it for our Canberra Syrah.

Shiraz is the name used for our wine from Hilltops and Heathcote as they are more full-bodied and packed with intense dark fruit flavours (plum, blackberry and cherry).

We rarely need an excuse to drink a Shiraz, but being International Shiraz Day, it is another fine reason to crack open a bottle! We hope you do too.

We have curated a special pack for you with 5 different Shiraz wines produced at Cupitt's Estate from three different regions, including one that has been aged in our cellar for 7 years- check it outHERE

Happy Shiraz Day!
